UHN began operations in Sparks, Nevada in May, 1991, for our parent organization, Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS) www.uhsinc.com.  UHS is one of the largest and most respected hospital managment companies in the nation.  UHS has focused on managing acute care hospitals, behavioral health hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers and radiation oncology centers. 

UHS is committed to Nevada with six acute care hospitals, a behavioral health facility, a surgery center and two PPO networks. 

In 2001, UHN acquired Nevada Preferred Professionals (NPP).  NPP was the first PPO in Nevada when it began operations in 1982. UHN acquired NPP to provide clients with alternative network choices and discounts.  UHS ownership provides UHN/NPP with stability unknown in the health care industry today, allowing us to concentrate on offering the best choice of providers at exceptional savings and services.
